It’s been nearly a year since Disney parks in the U.S. shut down for the pandemic, and Disneyland Resort’s theme parks are currently still closed.
Disney California Adventure has plans to partially reopen soon for the A Touch of Disney event, but guests won’t be able to experience the rides or attractions. Now, California has issued some NEW theme park guidelines, and we’ve finally got an idea of when the parks could fully reopen!
According to new rules outline in the OC Register, Disneyland Resort and other theme parks in the area will be able to reopen on April 1st, provided that they are in the “substantial” tier. However, there are some stipulations for reopening.
One of the main rules for reopening is that while in tier 2, the parks must be limited to 15% capacity. The capacity limit increases as the counties go into tiers 3 and 4 (moderate and minimal risk level). Another major part of these guidelines is that ONLY California residents would be allowed to visit.
We’re not sure how long the California resident rule would be in place, but we look forward to getting more details. As the April 1st date approaches, the government will be working more closely with the parks to get more specific rules set into place.
We’ll make sure to keep you updated as we get more information on this matter, so stay tuned to AllEars. We’ll be ready to report a reopening date as soon as the news is released!

Do you live in California? Tell us in the comments!
I live in California but still have my AZ drivers license so not sure how that’s going to work and what proof you need to show that you are a CA resident.
This news is exciting! I’m on the lookout for any information on the reopening dates for the resorts, I’d appreciate any information if y’all find any. 😊
