Important Seat Details for TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom

One of the most unique aspects of TRON Lightcycle / Run is the motorcycle-style seats that make it feel like you’re really zooming through the Grid.

But did you know they aren’t the only way to ride?

Getting onto the vehicles may be a little tricky if it’s your first time riding a rollercoaster like this. To get onto most of the Lightcycles, you will sit on the vehicle and place your knees and feet on the designed rest spots. Then, you’ll lean forward to hold on to the handlebars, and the seat back will fold down to hold you in place. While this might be a novel way of riding a rollercoaster, not everyone may be comfortable using these seats. But don’t worry! You won’t have to miss all the fun of TRON Lightcycle / Run.

TRON Lightcycle / Run Ride Vehicles

On some ride vehicles, there is a row of traditional roller coaster seating with a lap bar. This is designed for anyone who may not be able to fit into the ride seats or have a disability that prevents them from riding on this style of seat.

This option could be better for those who can’t adapt to motorcycle-style seating or anyone who would prefer a more traditional ride vehicle. Whatever the reason, Disney has made these seats available and all you need to do is speak with attending Cast Members regarding your preference. The Cast Member will take you to the side to wait for a train with alternate seating, as not every train has them.

To see if you are comfortable with the ride vehicle, there is a test seat located right before the main entrance. You can see how the ride vehicle will feel and decide if you would be comfortable riding on the regular seats. Quincy tried it out and she demonstrates how the ride vehicles lock you in.

When we rode, the regular seats were not the comfiest, but they were bearable for the length of the coaster. The most uncomfortable part is leaning forward against the hard surface, so be sure to use those test seats before you get on to see if you can handle it. The ride is about a minute long.

Also, before you get to the lockers and then the loading area for the coaster, there is a video explaining how the seating works. You’ll have to be able to pull the restraint down on yourself as shown in the video below.
