Disney World Just Announced 7 (!!) Rides are Completely CHANGING!

We haven’t completely recovered from all the big Disney Parks announcements Disney made at Destination D23.

Some Disney World rides are CHANGING

We got a better look at World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. We learned more about the Avengers Campus expansion planned for Disneyland. We also learned about new character meet and greets coming to parks soon. However, we’re still reeling from announcements about some Disney World rides that will be getting some major changes.

Magic Kingdom

In addition to talking about concepts for a huge Magic Kingdom expansion, Disney announced that Country Bear Jamboree is about to get a big upgrade. The Country Bears will be learning some new songs and performing a brand-new act.

Disney also finally announced when Hatbox Ghost would make his first appearance in Disney World’s version of Haunted Mansion.

He’ll turn up as a member of the mansion in late November.

EPCOT

We’re starting in EPCOT, where Soarin’ is about to get a temporary change. Soarin’ Over California, THE ORIGINAL version of the ride, is returning for a limited time. Remember the smell of the orange groves of the original Soarin’? You’ll get to experience that again as of September 22nd, when Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration kicks off in EPCOT.

Another ride at EPCOT will be getting a permanent makeover, though. Disney announced that Test Track would be completely reimagined.

Concept art suggests the new ride will take inspiration from the World of Motion ride that once existed in that space.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Even Hollywood Studios is getting in on the ride updates. Star Tours will be getting some new scenes featuring Ahsoka. Guests can expect to see her in Star Tours in spring 2024.

This update will join the Star Tours attractions in Disney World, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney announced that it was creating a new show for the Tree of Life based on Zootopia, and it is expected to be “filled with humor and action.” Although it was not confirmed, it seems like this show will be a replacement for It’s Tough To Be A Bug.

It also looks like we’ll be saying goodbye to Dinosaur. Disney announced it was narrowing down plans to replace DinoLand, U.S.A. with a concept centered around The Tropical Americas. Both Encanto and Indiana Jones were mentioned as ideas for this land, which means it’s likely that Dinosaur will become like the Indiana Jones Adventure ride in Disneyland (as both are based on the same vehicles and track).

So, a lot of changes are coming to existing Disney World rides, and we’re looking forward to seeing them all. We’ll be keeping you updated on all these updates and more Disney news, so check back with AllEars again soon.

  1. I am so disappointed that Dinosaur is meeting its extinction. That has always been a favorite ride for my family at Animal Kingdom despite the usually long wait, and it’s 1 of 2 reasons we go to that park at all. So sad.

  2. I really wish Disney would have both Soarin rides. Be nice to be able to choose. Or they could do one ride during the day, the other at night. Not sure if its technically possible, but it sure would be nice. I was disappointed when they changed from Impressions de France to the Beauty and the Beast sing a long, but they had Impressions at night, although I am not sure if they still do that. Maybe they should open a new world…Old Disney with all the rides they used to have!
