Crowds Are About To Be WILD In Disney World This Weekend

While the early months of the year are usually quiet in the parks, some exceptions exist.

National cheer and dance competitions are often held at Disney World early in the year, which brings MASSIVE crowds to the parks. We’ve already seen the crowds from a few of those events this year, and another one is about to begin tomorrow.

Starting tomorrow, February 9th, the 2024 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship will begin at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. This event will last from February 9th to February 12th.

You may be thinking, “Well, I’m not going anywhere near the complex, so I’ll be fine!” Unfortunately, that’s where you’re wrong. When in Disney World, just like you and I, most of these groups head to the parks to have tons of fun before, during, and after the competition. This means wait times in the park will SHOOT up.

It also means you very well may see an influx of teenagers in the parks, likely in large groups, so just be patient and be sure to bring something to keep yourself busy in line. Additionally, keep in mind that competitors will get extended evening hours at Magic Kingdom on Friday, February 9th, and a Celebration Party will be held in Hollywood Studios on Sunday, February 11th.

Some of our favorite ways to keep ourselves busy in line are:

  • Play a phone game with your family (like Heads Up)
  • Use the Play Disney Parks appBring bea
  • Bring a book or your Kindle if you’re on a solo/adults trip
  • Try to spot all the hidden details and hidden Mickeys you can
