While staying at a Disney World hotel keeps you in the magic and means you have free transportation to and from every Disney World hotel and park you wish to go to, there are some habits people have in these hotels that we think REALLY should be broken. We promise, your stay will be more pleasant and you’ll feel you got the most out of it!

Before we get into it, we want to keep you from making all kinds of Disney World mistakes, so check out Emma’s video right here.

Taking Advantage of All Online Options

Right after you book your hotel reservation, there’s another step you can take that many people have no idea about! You can put in a room request for what building you’d like to be in, what floor you’d like to be on, or even that you’d love a room upgrade if there’s one available. Now, there’s no guarantee Disney will accommodate this request, but it’s worth asking!

Additionally, before you arrive at your hotel, you can use mobile check-in to let the resort know what time you expect to arrive (and you can modify it if it changes), and you’ll receive your room number and other information in the My Disney Experience App when your room is ready — you don’t even have to stop by the front desk (unless you have a question)!

Not Checking Out The Free Activities

The majority of Disney World hotels offer free activities around the resort that people of all ages can enjoy. There are often activities like Disney trivia at the pool, volleyball, basketball, and so much more!

Not taking advantage of these activities, or not even looking for these activities, means you’re not using your hotel to its fullest, and you’ve already paid so much to be there! So take a look around the hotel and find those signs that list the activities (they’re usually close to the front desk and/or by the main pool) and see if any of them interest you!

Not Exploring Your Resort/Spending Time There

Some of you just said, “AllEars, I don’t have time for resort activities, I’m spending all my time in the parks!” And that’s ANOTHER habit we’re trying to break you of — you’re paying SO MUCH MONEY to stay in Disney World, we strongly encourage you to do more than just sleep and shower.

Everyone needs breaks sometimes, and what better place to take a break from the parks than at your hotel pool, restaurant, or lounge? There’s even an arcade available in some hotels for an extra fee! Your hotel has so much to show you, so take a little bit of time to explore — you may be surprised by what you find!
