DELAYS Impact Over 300 Flights at Orlando Airport on Anticipated Busiest Travel Day Ever

Traveling any time of year is pretty stressful, but spring break is a whole other level in Orlando.

Orlando Airport

We’ve been seeing the spring break crowds around Disney World, but Orlando International Airport is getting hit with tons of travelers, as well. In fact, a massive passenger record was broken on March 16th, and it could be crushed AGAIN.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, just last week (March 16th) MCO Airport saw just over 200,000 travelers for the first time ever!  Their previous prediction for March 23rd was 198,000 passengers, but that’s now been adjusted to 202,000.

These large crowds mean that the airport is recommending people arrive to the airport at least 3 hours early, no matter where they’re flying. Early arrival to the airport is needed to park, get through security, and get to their gate with plenty of time.

Be ready to wait

If you’re heading to the airport this weekend, you’ll also want to expect some delays. Remember to pack that patience, as hundreds of delays and a few cancellations have hit flights. As of 1:15 PM EST, over 300 flights have been delayed at MCO Airport and 13 have been canceled.

Southwest had 100 of those delays, while other airlines such as Spirit, JetBlue, and American Airlines also had high numbers. JetBlue had the highest number of cancellations with five as of 1:15 PM.
