ALERT! You May Want to CHANGE Your 2024 Disney World Vacation Dates

We have had lots of news pouring in in the past few weeks! We have had announcements about Disney Cruise Line and Universal’s Epic Universe, as well as lots of announcements from Disney World.

If you have planned or are planning a vacation to Disney World in 2024, you will want to know about these events happening!

Disney World is going to have an exciting year. There are lots of events and openings coming up, and we want to make sure you know about them so you can plan the best Disney World vacation.

The parks will be more crowded around big events, and expect lines for new attractions to be long. However, even if you are coming during a busy time, know that you can still have a great time, and we also have some tips for you!

runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend (April 18th-24th)

One of the next upcoming events is the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend happening April 18th-24th, 2024. This weekend event will feature three different race events. runDisney events are very popular, and make sure you are prepared for road closures and traffic when traveling to the parks in the morning.

The Drone Show Begins in Disney Springs (May 24th)

Beginning May 24th, 2024, a drone show will be debuting at Disney Springs. “Disney Dreams That Soar” will run nightly from May 24th to September 2nd, and will celebrate the joy of flight with drones that are choreographed to fly over Disney Springs.

CommuniCoreHall and Plaza Opening in EPCOT (June 10th)

June will be an especially big month for Disney World. To start off, CommuniCoreHall and Plaza will be opening on June 10th, 2024.  CommuniCoreHall will be the “hub” for the EPCOT festivals and will even feature a demonstration kitchen,  art exhibit, new Mickey meet-and-greet, mixology bar, and more! CommuniCore Plaza will feature an outdoor space for live entertainment, featuring a brand-new show!

Encanto Show in EPCOT (June 10th)

This new show will take place in CommuniCore Plaza and be called “¡Celebración Encanto!” The show will be a musical rendition of Encanto featuring Bruno and Mirabel.

New Meet and Greets at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios (June 10th)

In addition to the opening of the CommuniCore Hall and Plaza space in EPCOT, June 10th will also bring new meet and greets to both Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Joy will begin meeting at Pixar Place in Hollywood Studios, and Timon and Rafiki will be meeting again at Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom.

Start of EPCOT’s 2024 International Food & Wine Festival (no date announced yet)

We also know of a few events that don’t have set dates yet, but we want to make sure you know they are coming up in 2024. The first is EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival. We do not know an opening date yet, but the start of a festival is usually a busy day for EPCOT.  In previous years the festival opened in mid-July, but with Flower & Garden ending earlier this year, we may see an earlier start date for Food & Wine.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Opening in Magic Kingdom (Summer 2024)

As well, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be opening this summer in Magic Kingdom. We do not have an official date for this either, but lots of progress is being made and construction walls are starting to come down.

Country Bear Musical Jamboree Opening in Magic Kingdom (Summer 2024)

Finally, we are also anticipating the opening of Country Bear Musical Jamboree this summer. Again, we don’t know an exact date, but we wanted to make sure you know that this reimagined attraction will also be opening in Magic Kingdom this summer.

Being in the parks around the start of a new event, or when a new ride opens can be really exciting. But, also be prepared for crowds! The parks will likely be pretty crowded but don’t worry, we have some tips to help you have your best trip.

We recommend taking advantage of Mobile Order, and knowing your options for purchasing Lightning Lane passes and Genie+. Know your priorities and book sit-down reservations in advance.
