Are These Disney Hotels Haunted? 5 Stories That Have Us Convinced

You’re never alone when you’re in Disney World.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Okay, yes, we know that’s an obvious statement given the thousands and thousands of daily visitors the parks and more see — not to mention that there are thousands more Cast Members around at any given moment. But, what about when you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, and not everything is as it seems?

Disney Vacation Planner

We asked our readers on Facebook what the creepiest thing they’ve ever experienced at a Disney World hotel was that might lead them to believe it was haunted, and here’s what they said!

Empty Hallways

It’s probably no secret that most of us expect a pretty busy Disney World when we’re on vacation, and that usually also applies to hotels. But, sometimes you might arrive at your hotel late at night when business hours are long over.

Even though there are nighttime Cast Members there who can help you with whatever you might need, it doesn’t change the fact that walking through a totally empty lobby or hallway by yourself at night can make you feel like you’re in The Shining.

Nanny Chairs

Speaking of utterly terrifying twins, have you ever noticed the super creepy chairs in the BoardWalk Inn lobby? If not, consider yourself lucky, and also we’re sorry for including this photo. These “nanny chairs” were originally found on 19th-century European carrousels.

They were intended for adults to rest while their children rode the moving animals. These reproductions were cast from circa 1889 originals, hand painted, and highlighted with gold leaf. Oh, and we’re pretty sure they contain the souls of dead children.

Abandoned Pathways

Disney World is ultimately a safe place, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to have your wits about you at all times! It may not be haunted, but there’s a particular pathway at one of the hotels that feels downright abandoned, and is definitely creepy late at night.

The walkway that takes folks between Saratoga Springs Resort and Disney Springs is not very well-lit, and because of this, it can be a little bit terrifying if you’re walking it at night! It’s also pretty quiet which just adds to the eeriness.

Monsters, Inc.

One of our readers shared that when staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, they kept waking up to see a dark figure at the other end of the room. When they sat up to investigate, the figure would quickly dissipate.

It wasn’t until they shared this detail with their father (who was staying in the same room) that they realized he had seen the same thing!

Pillow Problems

We’ve heard of pillow fights, but flying pillows are a different story. Another reader replied that she was staying at Old Key West, and when unpacking she went to put her suitcase away in the closet. All of a sudden, the pillow on the shelf at the top of the closet came “hurling down forcefully” at her.

She also experienced unexplained problems with her shower, and later when sitting down to eat some popcorn and watch a movie, the bowl randomly spilled and popcorn went everywhere. We don’t know about you, but we’d definitely be asking to switch rooms at that point!
