Test Track Announces CLOSING DATE for Reimagining in Disney World

We have BIG Disney World news that’s just been announced!

At the 2023 Destination D23 event, Disney confirmed that Test Track in EPCOT would be closing temporarily to be entirely reimagined. There was no timeline specified at the time, but now we have an official closing date!

Disney Parks just released this new concept art photo of the reimagined ride on Facebook, giving us a look at what the new edition of the ride will look like.

Wow! We love the new awning over the top and all the bright LED lights and it does look like the ride may still travel on the outside of the building based on this concept art. But that wasn’t the biggest news — in the comments, Disney confirmed that the current edition of the ride will be closing on June 17th for refurbishment to begin!

Now, we don’t yet know how long this ride will be closed, but it does look like it’ll be going through a pretty significant makeover, so we’re expecting it to be closed for a few months at least.

In the current Test Track iteration, guests put their custom concept vehicles through several tests and then try them on the “open track.” Based on previous concept art, it looks like this new version will drive through a forest of sorts. The ride vehicles also look as if they’re going to be similar to those seen in World of Motion when the ride opened in 1982.

If you didn’t get to experience the opening day attraction, World of Motion was an omnimover dark ride that took guests through “the invention of the wheel right up to the present day and beyond.”

This is not the only huge change hitting EPCOT this summer — the long-awaited CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are opening on June 10th!

You’ll be able to meet Mickey and friends at a new character meet and greet spot, and for a limited time, you can check out a new Encanto show on the Plaza stage! This is one of the last big pieces of the EPCOT transformation puzzle.

Over the past few years, EPCOT has seen some major changes! There are new rides to check out like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind…

…and a new walkthrough attraction called Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. We highly recommend seeing that one at night!
