Your #1 Must-Do Ride in Disney World Just CLOSED. What Now?

Congratulations! You’ve made it to Disney World, and you’re ready to hit the parks and ride some rides.

You’ve made a list of the rides you can’t miss out on and you’ve got some that are must-dos. Then you get to the park and walk to the ride and…it’s closed. Well, here’s what to do when that happens.​

We’re only bringing this up because there’s a popular ride in Disney World that often closes. Yep, we’re talking about Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. On April 17th, Rise of the Resistance was closed for three hours.

You’re probably going to have that on your must-do ride list. Well, if the ride closes, you’ll want to keep a close eye on the My Disney Experience app to see when it reopens (the good news is that it does usually reopen later, but that’s not guaranteed). If you’ve bought the Individual Lightning Lane option and your return time is during the ride’s closure, you’ll get an “experience redemption” that will allow you to get on the ride when it reopens, even if it’s after your original Lightning Lane time.

If, for some reason, the ride doesn’t reopen for the rest of the day, you can get refunded for the price of the Individual Lightning Lane, but you’ll need to visit Guest Services to request it.
