When We Want a CHILL Disney World Trip, Here’s Our KEY Game Plan

Disney World vacations can be overwhelming!

EPCOT Monorail

With dining reservations, Lightning Lanes, rope dropping, transportation around property, and more, there’s a lot to juggle during your trip and it’s hard to find time to actually RELAX. But don’t worry! There’s a way that you can relax and have a more laid-back Disney World trip. We’re spilling our secret!

We Choose the Perfect Hotel

First, you’ll want to choose the perfect hotel for a relaxing trip! In our opinion, that’s the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin! This three-hotel complex is run by Marriott but is located right in the middle of Disney World property on Crescent Lake. They have many of the amenities of Disney World’s deluxe resorts, but typically for a little cheaper of a price tag.

They also offer incredible dining options, stunning pools, and boat transportation to both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Plus, if you want to take a little walk, you can easily get to either of those parks, as well as the BoardWalk, Yacht Club, or Beach Club.

They’re often overlooked, but with all those perks and less of the Disney hustle and bustle, we recommend these hotels highly!

Make a Priority List

If you want to have time to relax during your trip, you’ll need to prioritize your experiences and possibly cut some things off of your to-do list. (Doing ALL the rides in one day isn’t exactly relaxing!)

Tower of Terror

Sit down with the other people in your party and decide which rides, attractions, shows, and experiences are must-dos, and which ones you can skip in favor of chill-out time. This will help put everyone in a vacation mindset.

Take Time to Chill Out!

There are so many ways to relax during your trip, from sitting by the pool to going to one of Disney World’s spas. If you’re a spa fanatic, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel both offer services to help you unwind.

Mandara Spa

And sometimes, just a casual boat or Skyliner ride, or a stroll through one of Disney’s walking paths, is enough to help us decompress a bit. Give yourself a resort day or time in the middle of your park days to enjoy these luxuries!

Do Your Research Ahead of Time

This may seem counterproductive, but hear us out! If you’re well-researched and you know what you’re doing going into the trip, you’ll have a much easier time when you’re actually ON the trip.

It can be super stressful to make dining plans last minute or decide on the spot what you want to do all day, so come into your vacation having done your homework! Trust us, you’ll feel a lot more relaxed if you’re well-educated.

  1. Knowing you’ll never see or do it all, it’s import to do what excites you most. From the time our kids, grandkids and now great grandchildren travel with us to WDW, we pick the must dos with each picking one for each park. We also plan down time at the resort. If expectations are managed well, every trip can be memorable and not over exhausting.
