“I Waited 2 Hours in Line for THAT?!”: Experts Are Sharing the Terrible Trends They Can’t Stand in NEW Disney World Rides

Walt Disney had a vision for the parks that they would never truly be complete, and that they would be in a constant state of change.

Magic Kingdom

Part of this change means developing new experiences and attractions. While we are still seeing lots of change in the parks, sometimes change isn’t always perfect. We turned to the experts, our readers, to find out where new Disney World attractions may be missing the mark.

Being able to experience a new attraction for the first time is always something special, but there are a few trends that our readers are tired of seeing in new Disney World rides.

Screens

We saw lots and lots of comments about the dislike of screens. Emmalyn wrote, “Screens. So many screens.” Amanda also agreed saying, “Screens! I avoid universal because of this, causes severe motion sickness for me. Stop doing it.” Shellie wants to see more thrills or real props in the rides instead of screens.

Flight of Passage

Many readers shared very similar sentiments. Screens are not well liked at all, and we think the audience has definitely spoken on this one.

Short Rides

In addition to screens, many of our readers dislike that shorter rides are becoming the trend. Ryan said, “bring back the 5-10 minute rides! All the new ones are 1 -2 minutes and done! I waited 2 hours in line for that?!”

The TRON regular seats are restrictive

Ben agreed saying, “Tron, seven dwarf mine train, slinky dog- all too short!”
Robert was right there with Ryan and Ben, saying that new Disney World rides are: “too short. Mine train, Tron, GoG.” Although he did add that, “Flight of Passage is just right — any longer and they’d need the Mission Space vomit bags attached.”

Too Much IP

This one was also repeated over and over again amongst our readers. Many of you are getting tired of the focus on IP, or intellectual property. Lots of our readers are begging Disney World to be a bit more creative and not rely on their IP as much. David said that they are, “focused on IP rather than being truly innovative.”

Water Tower at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

James agreed saying, “no original IP. As much as I love Disney movies, I’d rather see a new idea/attraction not tied to a movie.” And Michelle was also in agreement writing, “hot take, but not everything needs to be tied to IP.” We have seen lots of rumors that IP will be taking over both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, although very little has been confirmed.

Virtual Queues

The next trend that our readers seemed to have had enough of is virtual queues. We saw lots of comments wishing for standby lines and to do away with the virtual queue system. Many people were also frustrated with the Lightning Lane system. Michelle wrote, ” I hate paying an extra $20/ride or fighting the entire park capacity at 6:59 for a decent VQ. WDW has created a hierarchy of its guests which would certainly NOT align with Walt’s vision.”

Virtual Queue entrance on Guardians of the Galaxy opening day

Justin agreed saying he didn’t like the, “lack of standby line” and Shawn said that he dislikes, “the whole virtual queue system.” The virtual queue system has been in place for every recent ride opening in Disney World, so we will see if the system will stick around or not.
