Magic Kingdom has seen its fair share of facelifts and updates throughout the years, for many reasons. From the birthday cake castle to New Fantasyland to the now-extinct Stitch’s Great Escape (rest in peace sweet prince), Magic Kingdom is no stranger to change.
2024 has signaled a new year of growth for Magic Kingdom and so many changes are to be coming with it!
Here are 3 ways Magic Kingdom is going to change in 2024.
Crowds
While we know that Magic Kingdom, and all parks, have fluctuating crowd levels, there are many reasons why the crowds in Magic Kingdom may change.
With only one operating attraction in Frontierland (thank you Big Thunder Mountain Railroad), we may expect to see crowd levels rise in other areas of the park, ultimately falling in Frontierland. We could also see more people exploring Tom Sawyer Island because there isn’t as much to do in that area of the park right now!
We will also potentially see an uptick in crowds later in the year when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and The Country Bear Jamboree open back up!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
We’re so excited about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! While we don’t know exactly when it will open, we do know that it should be sometime in 2024!
The attraction is reimagining the former Splash Mountain and continues Tiana’s story right where the movie left off! The story starts immediately upon entering the queue and only continues while aboard the ride!
With this attraction opening in 2024, we can expect that area to be extremely packed. Not only that though, it’ll bring New Orleans, Louisiana, right into the heart of Frontierland, making us so excited for a new twist coming to the land!
Country Bear Jamboree
The closure of the Country Bear Jamboree has brought immense change to the Kingdom. The original, opening day attraction is getting a facelift and a new show!
Disney recently announced that the bears will be back this summer. The new show will feature classic Disney songs with a Nashville twist!
Certain characters will be receiving updates, but the Country Bear vibes can be expected to remain the same! We are looking forward to what the Country Bears have in store.
Potentially 2024
This may simply be us wishfully thinking, but does anyone else remember “Smellephants On Parade?” We do and we’d really like to see some updates to this in 2024!
If you don’t remember Smellephants On Parade, it is a new addition to Magic Kingdom slated to pop up around Dumbo’s Circus. In a partnership with Scentsy, it looks like elephant statues will be put up that resemble and smell like certain food items.
We may also see Tron losing its Virtual Queue when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens! This could be less likely to happen but we’ve seen Tron boarding passes still available on days we didn’t expect, so it may make sense in the long run to do away with them for Tron.
The last thing on our “potentials” list is the Pirates Lounge that was previously announced during Destination D23! While nothing beyond that announcement has been updated, it could be possible to see some ground being broken on this project soon!
There is no doubt that Magic Kingdom is experiencing a ton of change in 2024 and beyond and we’re really looking forward to seeing how it grows!
