We’re talking about the most popular ride in EPCOT. No, not Spaceship Earth or Frozen Ever After — it’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!
Since debuting in 2022, the Marvel-themed coaster has taken the park by storm, and it’s still one of the park’s most popular rides. Because of that, it still uses a Virtual Queue to ride, but during After Hours, that all changes!
After Hours events are back at EPCOT and happening on select nights from February 2nd to July 18th, 2024. These separately ticketed events have many perks, but the biggest is riding attractions with no wait times.
Typically, there are two ways to ride Cosmic Rewind — through the Virtual Queue or by purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane. During After Hours though, you don’t need either!
We stopped by Cosmic Rewind once After Hours officially began at 10PM and noticed that the ride was using a standby queue. This is also what we saw during After Hours in Magic Kingdom with TRON Lightcycle / Run — another attraction that only uses Virtual Queues and Individual Lightning Lanes during the day. By 11PM, the ride was down to a 20-minute wait!
In total, we were able to walk all the way through the queue and to the preshow in eight minutes. Talk about IMPRESSIVE!
Later, we checked the wait time again and noticed it went down to a 15-minute wait. If you wanted, you could purchase a ticket to the EPCOT After Hours event and ride Cosmic Rewind over and over again all night long!

They should have paid me to ride. It was the most terrifying ride I have ever been on in my life, almost an out of body experience.
This ride was designed way past the concept of fun into total terror. I also feel it is unsafe.

We were there a week ago. Purchased the ILL and were lucky enough to get a virtual queue at one, the 7 am ones are gone in one second. Love the ride but we ended up literally riding it back to back. I have ridden before and it’s kinda intense. But back to back was a lot. At least we had time to recoup in the queue the second time. Ugh! Be careful what you wish for.
